The Magic Season Is Here!
As a local, September is my favorite month in the Lake Tahoe area. We often refer to this time as Locals’ Summer. Temps are cooler but not by much so it usually is still a good day to hit the beach. Even with slightly cooler day-time temps the lake temp is warmer so it feels great to take a dip. With kids back in school the crowds are generally gone and it is a great time to enjoy all the lake has to offer in summer without the normal chaos of summer. Restaurants are mellow and dining al-fresco is still wonderful. You no longer have to get out the door early in the morning to exercise without melting. It’s a great time of year to enjoy a midday hike or bike. With colors changing and temperatures continuing to get crisper the season to do so is really still ahead of us. I will post some favorite fall hikes and bikes at a later point in time. For now I want to share with you a few events in September that are worth noting.
Oktoberfest at Squaw
Sat Sept 22, 12-6 PM
Always a fun time, Oktoberfest in the Village at Squaw is an event not to miss! With Keg Rolling, Brat Tossing, and Stein Holding contests you are sure to be entertained. Fall is always such a nice time in the Village and what better way to enjoy it than with some good-ole beer drinking and brat-eating. Oktoberfest 2018 Info
Autumn Food & Wine Fest at Northstar
Sept 7-9
Cruise the Northstar Village marketplace featuring vendors, wineries and breweries or get your tickets for some of the many ticketed events for the weekend. These include Farm-To-Table dinners, Mixology Seminars, fermentation workshops and hikes to catered picnics. The easiest way to taste is directly in the Northstar Village with the Village Wine and Brew Walk with tasting stations set up throughout the Village. Northstar Autumn Food & Wine Fest Info
